Points of Interest

The Valhalla School District serves the municipalities of Mt. Pleasant, North Castle and Greenburgh. The hamlet was named by a local post-master’s wife in the 19th century who was a devoted fan of German composer Wagner and his passion for Norse legend. According to Norse mythology, Valhalla means burial ground for slain heroes. How fitting for the community that is home to Westchester’s two largest cemeteries, Kensico and Gate of Heaven. Valhalla is the location of the Mount Pleasant Town Hall as well as the Mount Pleasant Town Pool and Community Center.
