Points of Interest

Tuckahoe was once nicknamed the Marble Capital of the World for the quality of the stone quarried throughout the 19th century. Many important buildings including St. Patrick’s Cathedral and The New York Public Library in Manhattan both used Tuckahoe marble and helped drive the expansion of the railroads on the Harlem line. Today the Bronx River serves as a backdrop for some of Tuckahoe’s nicest parks.
