Situated in the center of southern Westchester County, Bronxville is a charming English-style village 28 minutes from mid-town Manhattan by train or car. It is known as one of the premier communities in America. The postal address also encompasses small parts of neighboring areas.
Character
Surprisingly diverse for its one mile square area, it affords appropriate housing for young and old. It includes many architectural styles in single-family homes, pre-war and contemporary town houses, cooperatives and condominiums. The turn of the century Lawrence Park is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
In the immediate area there are two colleges, Sarah Lawrence and Concordia, a fully accredited hospital, six pre-schools, and athletic clubs, the Lake Isle town country club, tennis and paddle courts, plus private clubs.
Its ready access to New York City attracts lovers of the arts and busy executives who prefer to live in a village setting.
Educational Facilities
The nationally renowned Bronxville school system, K through 12, is housed in one handsome facility. Each section, elementary, middle and high school, has its own principal. Education is one of the most important aspects of Village life with 99% of its students going on to college. Its programs are enhanced by the privately funded Bronxville School Foundation.
