65 miles north of Manhattan, is the setting for this beautiful antique village
located along the Hudson River waterfront on the western side of
Putnam County. It is known for its antique shops, Bed & Breakfasts, and the charming period homes that line its .6 square mile. Boasting one of the best views in upstate New York, the historic waterfront and bandstand that jut out into the Hudson River at the foot of Main Street allows astonishing three- way vistas towards Crows Nest, Storm King and Breakneck Mountains, West Point, and the flotilla of tugs, sailboats and kayaks on the River.
Educational Facilities
The Haldane School District serves the Philipstown residents
including the Village of Cold Spring, Village of Nelsonville and
North Highlands area. It consists of an Elementary school and
Junior/Senior High School. Student teacher ratio at Haldane is 10.7
to 1 and the average class size is 19. Approximately 94% of
graduates attend two and four-year colleges. Newsweek ranked us in
the top 1000 high schools in the nation. Kindergarten is a full day
program. The Garrison Union Free School District serves the
residents of Garrison, Manitou and a portion of Putnam Valley. It
consists of an elementary school from kindergarten through 8th
grade. Garrison students have a choice of attending Haldane High
School or O'Neil High School. Student-teacher ratio at the Garrison
School is 10.4 to 1. Average class size is 21 students.
