Mount Kisco is not only a bustling shopping mecca of Northern
Westchester, but a village of wonderful neighborhoods. One of the
most prestigious neighborhoods is "Captain Merritt's Hill", filled
with many turn-of-the-century Victorians including the famous
"Ragtime" home. If you are in the market for a newer home, there is
the fabulous "Mount Kisco Chase" s Toll Brothers community of single
family homes. With several condominium developments, there is
something for everyone in this exceptional village.
Historically a village/town located within Bedford
and New Castle, Mount Kisco seceded in 1978 and
became its own village, governed by a Mayor. You will find a wealth of shopping close to home, from national chains such as Ann
Taylor, The Gap, Banana Republic, Victoria's Secret and Borders Book Store to specialty boutiques, gourmet restaurants and food shops. Downtown also has the convenience of a five screen movie theatre. Mount Kisco is home to the highly rated Northern Westchester Hospital Center. All this and a Metro-North railroad station 50 minutes to Grand Central Station, NYC.
Educational Facilities
There are five elementary schools based on geographical boundaries
that feed into Fox Lane Middle School, which serves grades 6 to 8, and Fox Lane High School in Bedford. There is the Rippowam Cisqua School, an independent country day school. Mount Kisco also offers Jewish and secular education at Bais Miriam Leah School and Talmud Torah Beth Yechtel.
Recreational Facilities
The Butler Sanctuary, Marsh Sanctuary and Meyer Preserve total over
630 acres of nature at its finest, with many species of
birds, trees and flowers. Leonard Park is wonderful for active sports, such as
soccer, tennis, football and baseball, and has a magnificent 3-pool
complex, one of which is olympic-sized. Or just enjoy the passive
recreation of admiring the pond and its surroundings. The Boys and
Girls Club of Mount Kisco is very active with after school
activities and a swimming pool.
